Well first off I’d like to say, God bless Carol Ann Taylor!
Carol Ann and I work together down at my day job and about a month ago she came in to work early one morning and tossed the latest copy of The Mountain Express on my desk. Now, The Express is a little ‘organic’, independent newspaper in Asheville and is the best source for up to the minute info on everything entertainment, especially in downtown. I lovingly refer to it as The Hippie Newspaper. In Asheville, North Carolina the word Hippie is not a bad thing. It’s not a cuss at all.
So little Carol Ann proceeds to thumb through the Express and shows me the article for the Asheville Habitat For a Humanity’s Reuse, Restore contest,
that she thought I might be interested in entering.
Understatement of the year.
I decided to enter this
I did not have one single delusion that I was going to win this contest. I swear. I wanted to win, but I did not feel like I had what it took to do it. And I I stuck my neck out anyway.
Big Daddy and I made this cute Mason Jar blue bench from an old bed that I dug out of someone’s garbage. I mean it . Very literally!
So I’m driving to the grocery store last Friday when my cell rings. I did not recognize the number at all, nor was I thinking it might be about the contest when I answered.
And squealed my head off!!
I can’t believe I won this!!!
First prize was a $250 gift certificate to the Habitat Restore. Lord, you better believe I can do some damage with this!
Here’s the link to Habitat Asheville’s website.
Please go and check out all the AMAZING ideas the other contestants had. I was pretty blown away with their projects, especially that treehouse.
I want one of those.
Big Daddy is sooo sweating this one !
